Hello, does anyone know of a decent set of headphones for the Safari? And would it be a good idea to get wireless ones? Does it take away from quality sound? Thanks for looking!

Faithstoli, Wireless headphones are the way to go. When you get down to dig you dont have to contend with the wire. As for the sound quality. It is as good as the headphones. I rigged my 250 up with a set of tv headphones which are full ear covering. You emediately forget you have them on. I'm having a little problem with battery life but I think wireless is the way to go. By the way my head phones operate at 900 mhz.  Cool

Thank you for the quick response and that makes alot of sense.. I've noticed myself fighting with my wires alot and end up just taking them off and putting them back on to re-pinpoint with every dig. But I also wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out of quality. Thanks for the advice gambol!

After my post last night I ordered a cheap pair of sylvania headphones. I hesitated before because you don't get something for $13.00, any way when I test them I will let you know.Gambol

Faithstoli, Well the Sylvania headphones came and they work well enough. I have two reservations. 1) The audio sounds different than with the corded phones. I think it is a mismatch between the detector and the transmitter. 2) the maximum volume is just barely loud enough for high noise areas. This may be part of the mismatch. The audio and volume are good with the Ipod and stereo.
* note: these were shipped with near dead batteries installed. (.3 -.5 v) In that condition the transmitter worked for about 2 minutes then started "motorboating". If you buy these check the batteries first. Other than the dead batteries they worked better than I expected and None of the consumer complaints apply....Yet.

Faithstoli, More information on the sylvania wireless headphones.

I was right, the garrett 250 and the transmitter were mismatched. The 250 has no volume control and the level coming out of it is too high for the wireless transmitter. It was causing the sound to be clipped and volume to be low. I inserted a 1000 ohm resistor in the ground side of the headphone connector and that fixed it. The sound is good now. I suspect the same problem will happen with other detectors that require headphones with in line volume controls. It sure works fine now. I won't be going back to wired any time soon. Battery life I will report on later. I'm up to 4 hours with the same batteries. gambol. Smiley
