I'm planning on going to an organized treasure hunt with prizes etc. in Nov. 09...My intentions are to use my SE PRO and take two coils with me. I have the factory 11" and a factory 8" inch coil. What I'm interested in is to get advice (I've never been to one) on the best setup with this detector for the hunt... Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks John in Va.......

Ah, competitive hunting is great fun. What you need is a very accurate machine that can rapidly pinpoint an object allowing you to dig it very quickly and move on. Forget super coils and any other normal treasure hunting helps. Go for accuracy and speed. Always recheck your own hole and pass your machine over the holes of others because the organizers sometimes bury the high value tokens below an old coin. When the inexperienced see the coin, they sometimes forget to recheck and leave the token behind. Tricky guys and gals, they are.

Good luck and have fun, John. Let us know how you did.

Detecting   Golddigger.........Thanks for the advice, I will double check the holes I dig and that of others. It should be fun, maybe a new detector if I find the right token. The dig is next month. Have a good day .......John in Va....

Checking the hole of another competitor won a St Gauden's $20.00 gold coin for me as a prize. When I went to the judge to see what I had won and exchange the token, I told him I thought the person before me had missed it. He told me about them putting two items in one hole to fool people into thinking they had simply found one of the coins rather than a token. I was really lucky that day.

That was quite a prize, I'm not sure of all the prizes being awarded at the hunt I'm attending. A piece of Gold would be nice.....John in Va

That was 30 years ago or so sponsored by the local club in Virginia Beach and H & S Detector Center. Are they still around, I wonder?
