Found this beautiful gold Sovereign in mint condition whilst i was water detecting with the Excalibur a couple years ago,the owner had carved out these symbols on it, i have never found out the meaning of them, just wondering if anyone here knows what they mean..

                                    Cheers Raoul

Raoul, it looks like a letter form the Hebrew alphabet, probably Hei (the rough equivalent of H) or Cheit (the equivalent of Ch).   Unless that's someone's initial, I don't know what it would stand for ---- assuming that I have correctly identified it.

It's Hebrew alright. Looks like the owner was trying to spell Chai, Hebrew for life.

The Hebrew thing is most correct I think.

That would make sense since one of the two possibe letters I identified was cheit (and that is actually the one it looks most like).   And wearing a pendant bearing a reminder of Life (live) or Love is common.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
