I found this metal detector’s schematics on the
PRACTICAL WIRELESS November 1973 issue magazine.
Called “Ferret” phase locked loop I.C metal detector
and operates at a frequency of 120khz.
Perhaps someone could be interested.
it could be good for small gold.

Oddly enough, that was also in Radio Electronics Magazine and a friend of mine built one. The phase lock loop performed too well and detection was a sharp "bip" instead of a wide area. Great for pinpointing but if you were off center by any amount, the detector remained silent. Back then, the letters to the editor discussed this issue for months. Do you know of Practical Wireless had similar discussions?

That's the only magazine i got.i don't remember where i got it from.
i rediscover it because of the BAD weather in Melbourne.
i can't get out detecting so i spend time going through some of the stuff i have stashed in the shed.

GD !   I think I have a few boxes Unopped from my Military days of travel that need to be investigated.

Wonder if that detector is hot on Black Sands.
