Go Up Go Down

I just did some trading and in the trade got a Bounty Hunter DE 280 Outlaw VLF-TR-
Was still in box and looks hardly used.
Problem is batteries.
Yep,... they left them in and they corroded.
The circuit board and controls look okay just both the battery holders and the bottom of the case was corroded.
The main problem (besides others) I have is the wires going to the battery packs are not connected to anything.
The packs themselves are in pieces and useless.
What I have is 2 sets of red and black wires with no ends on them.
I do not know which wires go to which battery pack.
Schematic would be nice but have not found one.
Could someone look at theirs and let me know??
Or take a picture of the circuit board showing which wires go to which battery pack??
I would like to power it up and see if it is worth going any further with it.
If someone could help I would sure appreciate it and
Thank you in advance!!

The Two Negative leads should be tied together on the board.  Used two battery packs a 6v and 12v  AA Packs .  The 6v was for the Audio and 12v the Detection circuits.  Ohm out the two black leads to make sure I'm right.  Two black leads should be shorted to each other.   If you know a bit about electronics it should be easy enough to figure out on the PCB what set is for what circuit. If Not connect a 6v pack to one set of wires.  You will hear a pip or even a tone if your on the audio circuit.  Now you know  the other one is the 12v.    You really should replace the battery leads all the way to the PCB.  The Battery acid can leach it's way up the wire inside. Bad Ju Ju.

Power set up should be some what like this.

Welcome to the Forum.

Homie if the schematic you posted is also correct for the 280 both sets are 9 volts.
one for the positive rail one for negative.
look at the schematic.
he shouldn't reverse/cross the battery wires Amen

Go Up Go Down

Was looking at my circuit board and there was one red and one black connected together in one spot on the board.
Basically one negative and one positive from each pack going to one spot on the board ...
Weird...
That is why I wish I could find someone with an old DE 280 to open up their box and look at it.
Thanks for the reply......

Yea, there using + - 9v on that one.      His uses 9 and 12V for two circuits.  Was thinking they would use a common Ground.  That's why I said to check.   :Smiley
