Go Up Go Down

Had to Repair the Lower shaft for a Bounty Hunter 101.

Plastic end of Shaft was snapped off .

Here is how I got away with it.

Step 1  Remove Spring Clip from Box end of Shaft.

Step 2  Using a length of Steel Rod I drove the Broken Bit out of the Shaft.  Replace Spring Clip.

Step 3  Reshape the Broken end of Clevis from Hex to Round enough to Insert into the Lower Shaft.  I used a Wood Rasp type file.

Step 4  Press the Reshaped Clevis into Shaft .

As you can see there's  not much material in the peace that was in the shaft.

A lower shaft cost only $9.95 from Killyco.   LOL

Great fix Homie.  Great I have a BH also. Hope I don't pull a Karl on it. Cheesy Cheesy (Sorry Karl couldn't resist). You not only saved $10 bucks but also a wait period and shipping charges. Clapp

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

Next time try any of the PVC Solvent cement from plumbing supplies.
I used it on my old white’s machines with great success Smiley

Yes , I've Used ABS Cement to put coil housing together and repair the Broken Ears for Clevis but the shaft here didn't match up well at all.

I think it's stronger now then new.

Shaft is a Done Deal.  Waiting for the Battery Cover.   Not sure how to handle the Mouse chew wire.  Think I will just set it aside and use the Coil from the LS Camo.
