@Hector

are you saying the centech has a "spot" on the circuit board to solder in a small vibrate motor?  would it need to be a 9v vibrate motor.  I've seen a few that are up to 4.5v, but not 9v.

I bought a micro vibration motor at radioshack. You need to solder it to the speaker leads and it will work fine and the speaker will also work fine. There is a spot marked "vibration" but the circuit is not complete and it will not work there. The motor is around $4-$5  and the 4.5 volt will work. You will need to hot glue the wires by the motor or a part of the motor to the plastic case to keep it in place. Hope this helps....Warren

Just got one of the Centech pinpointers and did the first mod. Increased depth by factor of 2 at least. Penny in air detected at 2 1/4 inches. Was 3/4 ". Simply wind a #14 copper wire three time around the wand tight enough to stay put but loose enough to slide. Push the coil back to the box and adjust sensativity to stop buzz. Slide the coil tward the tip and stop at the point that it starts to buzz. Readjust sens. to just shut of and check the depth. Should be doulbled or better. Hope this help someone. I hot melt glued my ciol to keep it from moving. Tape would work too I think.

The other mod is to adjust the sensitivity on the inside of the box. There is a small part on the inside that has a spot that will accept a phillips screwdriver and you can make small adjustment till you reach the max that help. Another mod is to replace the push button switch with one from radio shack that you can push and it stays on till you push it again.The factory switch will not last long with dirt getting worked into it. For the price you cant beat them. I still have 3, plus a fisher, garrett propointer and the large Automax V4 from kellyco. The cen-tech is the best of the cheap ones but none are close to the propointer.....Warren

I have the similar mods to my centech. I used a kids adjustable ring on the probe and it can be slide up or down the probe to adjust sensitivity. I used a vibrating motor from an old tracfone and used a toggle switch to select buzzer or vibrate. I also put the pinpointer in a zip lock bag to reduce exposure to dirt and water. I thought that I was going to have to replace the switch but cleaning it with contact spray fixed it. I do have a new switch for it when it fails..

I picked on of these up today-very quickly did the mods mentioned and foun that it was VERY handy for me in the first three holes I dug. Found a badly decomposed penny (1/2 cent? Wink ) that would have not been recognizable it was so corroded and clod. It also helped me quickly find a rusty nail that was above a good penny target. Never realized how handy a pinpointer could be. I will almost certainly go for a Pro-Pointer if I can hunt enough to justify it but for now this inexpensive substitute works pretty good. Thanks for all the info shared here-it helped a lot.

Dig Deep!  Great

Bill
