Hello,

is there a specific metal detector / model your have in mind? Fromw hat I remember some of the Tesoro machines offer the possibility of increasing depth a little. However especially chpar machines will tend to get unstable with increased depth.

Best wishes,

Christian

I used to go to metal detector field hunt competitions. Some of the cheapest detectors did the best. An inexpensive detector in the hands of a expert user will outperform a thousand dollar detector used by an inexperienced user. If you want to experiment making coils or modifying circuits a fifty dollar detector would be a good place to start.

cheap detector

It would be neat to make a 18 inch coil for this machine to see how it did. Wonder it could be modified as a two box machine? If you mess up you will have a parts machine and can try again for the fifty bucks to buy another one.

Hello usmcman,
I talk to stonebreaker alot and he got one of those machines that You were looking at from harbor frieght, I know he hasnt had alot of time to get out, but he did try it, and he found a clad quarter and something else I cant remember what it was ( old age ya know lol ) and he did get an extended warranty for 10 bucks extra for 2 years which isnt a bad deal. But Im sure he will get out to try it in various areas as soon as he gets time.
am looking into getting one myself in the next month. Here they are on sale until the 8th of March for 35.00 so You might want to check with your local store.. Best Wishes ,,,Rob
