hi for my early quote i mean the BI and the VLF for PI dear Carlord they only and only use single coil

There are a few PI machines that use a dual coil but they don't lend themselves to being configured to DD. The size of the TX coil is not the same as the RX coil so a DD coil is impractical.

For this general discussion, a PI coil cannot be modified in any way to be a DD coil.

Hi  Carlrod

I have a feeling that you do not have a clue as to what you are trying to do so here's a little bit of help. A DD coil is used in an induction balanced metal detectors, one coil will be a TX (Transmit coil) and the other the RX coil (receiver coil) In order for your detector a VLF (Very low frequency) to function correctly you have to find the Null of these two coils (the point between these two coils where there is nothing) when a metal object is passed in front on the coil the field changes due to the Eddi currents produced by the metallic object, this distorts the field and causes the detector coils to go out of null and in turn causes the audio signal to turn on and that tells you that there is metal in the ground. Now remember that this is for a VLF detector. On a PI (Pulse induction) you only have a on/off of power to the coil, this causes a high magnetic field for a very short period of time. While the power to the coil is off the coil becomes a receiver coil (this is for the single coil PI detector) you also get PI detectors with two coils a TX and RX coil these are concentric coils, normally the configuration is the TX as the outer coil and the RX as the inner coil. There is no way that a DD coil will work on a PI detector nor that a dual coil configuration will work on a mono coil PI detector. Please note that the explanation that I have given you is not entirely correct but made simple for you to understand.

All the best
Xavier

If you dig in here you will find info about DD coils for the PI.

Also look into the Hammerhead Detector.   It too has provisions for the double Coil.

Yes it can be done but little value.

I disagree. coil, dd, is very useful, to annul the mineralization, soil .. So why, The GPX 4000, A 5000 MINELAB and lorenz deepmax, AND OTHER MODELS P.IS, BRING A DD IN PACK?

First of all, a DD coil is not just the shape but an electronic configuration. PI machines are already immune to mineralization so the DD coil is nothing more than a pretty face. The configuration on a PI machine is a folded figure 8 of a single coil. The DD is not two coils as in the VLF models but instead is a single coil, made large and folded over itself. Disagree all you want. Just remember you came here ASKING for advice and now you are telling me that my advice is wrong. That's not really good form, Carlrod.

sorry, my ignorance!! Angel I was convinced they were the same size, we VLF!
then is 8-shaped, and only a bobbin thread? could send here link to photo of a well under construction? on mineralization, where I have detected, the soil has a lot, and what I most wanted was to have a coil dd, my, DEEPERS (PI) to detect, in these soils, with the maximum of efficiency, as the MINELAB, S.
ONCE MORE, EXCUSE ME, AND ALSO, THE BAD ENGLISH TRANSLATION.
THANK YOU.

I can understand your confusion and you wouldn't be the first one to buy a coil believing it was the same kind of result or pattern that a VLF coil will give. The technology is different for a PI machine. You will get ground and mineral cancellation automatically but you lose the easy discrimination. Discrimination CAN be accomplished with a PI machine but it requires massive computing power inside of your detector.
