I've built Bluetooth into 3 of my latest design projects and love it. I only broadcast when there is a tone and then hold it for 6 seconds if it remains silent. Every beep resets it for 6 seconds. This saves the battery. It works with most phones but only a few can interrupt a call with a beep from your detector. In other phones, when you are on your headset, it does not interrupt. Ideally you could have both so you could tell whoever you are speaking with that you just found something.

On the bright side, it is a brilliant idea and works great for me. I'm even working on one that will plug into the headphone jack. This version is a dedicated wireless system that doesn't need a phone. Just a receiver.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Is there any delay with blue tooth ? I've experimented with FM and works very well.

I've heard reports of delay issues with some set ups and others it seems not to much of a issue.  I guess it depends on the system used.
