I recently bought a fisher 1266x with a broken trigger for $80. it's stuck on discrimination 1. still works. I was wondering if anybody had this problem and knows if it can be replaced, or if it's worth fixing. Detecting

Fisher will fix it, I'm sure.    It's just a momentary Toggle switch you can do your self.

Most radio shacks around me have all but stopped selling Discrete Electronics but you may find one there.   If your going to do it yourself, Pull out the switch and show us a photo of it.

We need the Size, Ratings and dimensions.   I'm sure we can find one for you.

i fixed a mates with an on off on standard small panel mount switch, it was allmost identical, the only difference was that it was shorter than the fisher version, a small one inch length of tube pushed on the toggle and it worked fine.
the bonus of this mod is, A the switches are cheaper and easier to find, and B you can use a momentary version so its same as before or you can use a standard version of that switch then you can lock it in disc 1, disc2 or all metal(non motion) clever eh.

Do you know of any web sites that show how the 1266 comes apart? or can you try to describe it for me?

My bet is like the Bounty hunters, there are four screws in the corner of the face behind the face plate.  Press with your finger and you should be able to feel the hollow were they are.   Not giving a crap on my Bounty hunter I just located the screw holes and punch a hole with a Philips to take them out.

unscrew the two small screws either side of the coil plug on the back, grab hold of the knobs on the front and gently slide the assembly from the case, no screws on front panel, if its original the wires should be long enough to get it free, gently unscrew the charge socket nut, and disc switch nut, unplug the power wire, slide the paper clip off the shield(dont discard this, 1266 needs the foil shield and the paper clip is how its fastened(black wire)).
the board assembly should come out of the box then, then unscrew the bolt holding the box to the handle.

no problem, the only other thing is when you reassemble it dont forget to slide the paper clip on the shield on the right hand side where fisher put it if you move it it can short out.
