One of the two battery posts corroded away in one of my CZ-20.  It's now just a rusty stub.  I am unable to reattach the wire that was connected to it.  Can anyone recommend a good place (other than the overpriced Fisher lab) to get it repaired?

Hello Wolong , Welcome to this Great Forum !! I believe your CZ-20 uses 4 -9 volt batteries , If there is room in the battery compartment , solder in a new 9 volt snap connector "replacement" .......... Do not forget when you are done , always Make sure the waterproofing O-Ring is properly seated , before you go back underwater !!!!!!! . If you still have problems , You can post a photo of the Damage/Corrosion right  Here on Thunting.Com, and then we can help you fix it faster !!! Why send it to Fisher , Fisher is Not Fisher , it is now Bounty Hunter  Grin Grin Grin Grin!!!.........Save money , You can Fix-IT  Wise Wise Wise......Eugene

Looks pretty bad !! A battery leaked or saltwater leaked into the Detector ?  A complete new battery housing for cz-20 or cz-21 is $38.00 on ebay , but going that route may not be necessary . I Hope that the corrosion is just around the batteries , and not on your Detector's circuit board , because your CZ-20 quicksilver metal detector is not cheap to replace !! They are a Good "Dual Frequency" Machine . You will also get more Thunting Forum answer's about Local Repair shop's if you post the country you live in . Carefully take the whole metal detector apart and I still think , if you or someone you know is skilled with a soldering iron or has some experience with glue and or bonding plastics it can be fixed , so you will not have to send it to  Fisher/1st Texas  !!!  I hope the rest of the Machine is O.K. Also , look around in your own home or garage for tiny small metal springs or washers , any Metal pieces that can be soldered with a 30 or 40 watt soldering Iron to the red power wire you have broken on the picture , that will push against the battery terminal to make a solid contact . I know you can fix it and save a bunch of money..............Keep us posted on your progress..............Regards..........Eugene52

Not detectors, but other gadgets. Clean very well. Use a little baking soda or other base solution to neutralize the acid. Expose and rough up the remaining metal. Clean and solder new leads. If there isn't much metal left, you may want to strain relieve the leads in some way, IE; physically tie the leads to something or anchor them.

I got a similar problem with my cz20 - water got into. In this case you can open the detector and dry  all parts. Matter for the water was a small rip. I repaired it with "superglue". They glue solves the plastic take the rip away.

I'd have used a really strong and pliant glue called GOOP. Goop is very good for waterproofing the detector housing, etc.  Great
