Go Up Go Down

Hi Does anyone have a Garrett A3B Gold Hunter United States or Australia Model
I have never seen one But a friend showed me one (Australian model) and apparently
it has a fixed coil system wired all the way to the Circuit by a 4 pin plastic connector
At the moment all I have to go on Until he finds the coil? Is the control box
So my question is does anyone know for sure did all A3B units made use 15KHz or some use 5KHz
And if again someone has one probably the United states one since I'm asking in this US Forum
I know from photos they have a normal metal Connector Plug system outside but inside they are probably
wired up the same from connector that takes the coil plug to a plastic 4 pin connector to circuit board
If that is the case I Need the color wiring set up on the plastic connector?
Garrett uses 4 wires 1/White 2/Bare earth 3/Red and 4/black so all I need is someone to just like
when you put the 3 nine volt batteries you open the control box and check the Coil wiring
and the sequence of colors Or take a photo showing the wiring and colors to the circuit board
because you have to slide the unit out of the case to replace batteries there must be a plastic
connector plug to unplug and make repairs etc
I will try to add photos if anyone is confused but if someone has this model they will know what
I'm talking about thanks for any help and Happy Holiday Season

15Khz it should be running.  Switch it on and check what pins are putting out a signal .  Do you have a DVM that reads Frequencies ?

Hi all worked out now it's 15KHz and I have rewired the unit from Fixed coil system To plug any other suitable coil
Like Garrett groundhogs use 15KHz But the best is the Garrett DD Gold hunter Coils used by the Scorpion Gold Stinger
At 15KHz the unit has being modified with a booster and volume control and Internal Speaker Original only had Headphone
Also with a Garrett Hip mount shaft system to carry control box on your waist  Detecting

Good Stuff.   I have a old Garrett S3 that I've found gold with before.   15Khz Never thought about a Stinger coil on it.  Need to keep a eye out for one.  Thank You.

Yes Homefire I had to do it the hard way trying to figure this rare unit since I did not have any background help other then it looked similar to the AT3 MODEL control box wise but they used Round Crossfire coils around 6KHz the Scorpion uses Elliptical Crossfire coils and some rare round ones but have Gold hunter in red so you know they are 15KHz Anyway I was waiting for a reply and put the detector aside
When you said try a DVM meter to check the transmit signal I said that's right I can figure out the wiring and Frequency at the same time
Tested the unit and was giving 14.9KHz so I wired up a Garrett connector plug the way Garrett's pin numbers wire up TX and RX tried all the Groundhog Coils from my A2B Gold Hunters and scorpion Gold Stinger and the best for Mineral Ground was the DD Scorpion Coil
With the booster added to A3B it's a Hound dog to tiny Gold Nugget's Even with out it still picks them up but not as loud
Practically now I can determine that this rare fast re-tune Automatic A3B last one made is the Father of the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger
Testing the detector on a Gold bearing creek Got a really good signal on a bend inside the water Garrett coils are the best Waterproof coils specially the older solid Co-axial or Co-planner ones.Took all the gravel material out in a Gold pan and this is what came out  Shocked
Thanks Homefire for sparking the Idea instead of me being lazy and waiting for the easy way from someone having the same model
