Go Up Go Down

I have an old Garrett A3B and wires broke off PCB when middle was pulled out to insert batteries.

I managed to note the 'K' and 'L' wires before they both broke off, and assume the 3rd wire is 'J', but unsure of this!!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes, Photo would be good.  I have the schematic for the AT3 that may have some commonality with it if you want it.

Go Up Go Down

Have just had a closer look and taken a couple photos that may help.

The 3 wires are green and attach to the All Metal/Discriminate Mode toggle switch on the detector housing.

1.  The green/red stripe wire is still attached to the 'L' on PCB, although I thought they had all broken off.

2.  The green/black stripe wire has broken off 'K' connection - I managed to

3.  The 3rd wire is plain green and may have already been broken off, so I don't know where this came from, but could possibly be an 'earth' ??
I thought it might have come from the 'J' on the PCB, but that doesn't look like it is actually a connection point.

Many thanks
Phil

is the green wire in the middle pin of the switch?
i found a document with the same operating  instractions for the A2B and ADS
the circuit diagram for the ADS is available on the net see attachment.
could be that the A3B was similar Huh??
but some of the techs will confirm that.

Did some Rooting.  Seems your not the only one with this issue. Found this info on a Australian Forum.

Your Black and Green wire does in fact go to the Point K.

You other Flying wire seems to come from behind the IC near Point J.

If you look the at the Tracks Point J and This other point may be common.  LOL, Or Garrett may have done a Bodge Job.

Hope this gets you going.

Added info on post was "Wires on plastic plug, left to right: White - Red - Black - White/green."

Thanks, that explains why I couldn't see where that wire came from!!
Will need to add a cable tie to prevent future problems.
