Go Up Go Down

I have purchased this early in March of this year.  It has saved me many minutes in retrieving coins, junk, etc.  However, I had noticed something about it that had started about a month ago.

As I would have it in the hole, to try and pick up a signal.  It would continuously beep, and I would raise it out of the hole and into the air and it would still beep.  Even when it was away from any metal.  It gave false signals, and gave erratic and jumpy signals.  It wasn't that bad.

Now, I just barely move it and it goes crazy.  I feel as if the wires inside might be touching, because I try to raise the battery compartment up, and it stops.  But, it always slides back down and goes crazy again.  The audio and vibrator both go crazy.

I wanted to know if there was something I could do, before buying another one.

Any suggestions?

Is it under warranty? Seems like Garrett might fix it for you as part of their warranty. Unless it is used, of course, but even then they are the experts.

I believe that it has a two year warranty.  That is what I had seen on their website, anyways.  I also sent an email to Garrett and to Kellycodetectors.com as well.

Then I would advise not trying to repair it yourself as that may void your warranty. Garrett has always treated me right in that regard. My Sea Hunter is 20 years out of warranty and when I asked about purchasing a new gasket so I could replace the batteries, they sent me one free. I did not ask for that. I wanted to buy one. With that, Garrett moved itself to the top of my list of detector manufacturers.

Sorry about your probe, Garrett are pretty fair to deal with. I have had two problems with the switch. It seems to be a weakness but each time they just replaced the pointer.

I had got the e-mail from Garrett yesterday, and they apologized for my inconvenience with the probe, and said to return it and they will replace it.

I have already had my metal detector repaired by them, they are number 1 on my list of manufactures.

I agree and I would say that Tesoro are very good with their repairs as well.

I took my Vaquaro to Cost Rica for a hunt in May and it stopped working. (The connection wire into the coil was shorting out I was told)

I sent it back to Prescout Ax from Canada on May 21 and within 12 days it was back home to me all fixed, checked out with no cost at all.

You gotta love their lifetime warrenty.

Glad that Garrett are pleasing you. Clapp

Cheers,

Mike

Let me know how it goes with your probe. I've had mine several months now and love it! This thing saves sooo much time in recovery!
