Hello. I want to construct a giant coil (6 feet wide or so) to cover large areas looking for burried treasurs & metiorites. I saw the Metiorite Men draggin' one around on one of their shows. It would have a PVC frame & skids. I will pull it with an ATV with either my DFX or Eurika Gold mounted up front.  Can anyony guide me to some tech information? Wire type & size, # of loops, if there are loops,   I am a soon to retire Fireman & I ma NOT a detector pro nor an electriction. Need small words & lots of pics. Thank to everyone that reads this post.  Thanks. Wade in Colorado

This is not a project for someone who has a limited budget and little experience. Due to timing issues and power requirements a large coil outfitted to an existing detector is impractical and will not yield the results most people think they will get. Believe it or not, designers don't build a detector and then design a coil for it. They start with the coil and design the detector around that. In the case of a large coil, it's even more critical to do that.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
