Goldscan2 (from 1992) : Can somebody please advise me what i need here,( batteries for a goldscan 2)  . Ive been operating the machine  for several years and the batteries seem to be fizzling out fairly quickly now . I looked in the control box and it seems that the original batteries have already been replaced by 10 c cell units .( presumably 1.2 v) ..... (I thought there should be 12 cells in there ,as the charger states 12 cells at 200ma) . What is the best course of action to fit replacements ? Can i make up my own battery pack or is it safer to buy off the shelf ready made . What batteries would you recommend ?

You should be able to have one made up.  GOLD SCAN II User's Manual - KTS-Electronic

GOLD SCAN II electronic unit with Bluetooth® incl. installed li-Ion battery .... The change of sound is the first sign for the detection of a metal object. Before.

Look on eBay for Sub-C Solder Tab NiCad batteries. Reasonable cost and can be soldered. Do NOT try to solder batteries that have no solder tab. They can be damaged by the heat and explode during charging or use.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
