OFF , i think the issue is when it charged , the pack
don't reach 6,8 volts even after 8 hours charging ,
supply transfo is good , it deliver almost 30 volts , it
seems a chip is short on the board , someone has an idea ?

Thank you for posting . You definitely have a problem with the charging circuit.
Looking at the picture , it sure looks like part of the board overheated pretty bad . I see a 8 pin integrated circuit and 2 [3 pin] voltage regulators that do not look good in the photo. You need to check DC voltages around these components. All the parts on that board can be bought from Jameco or Mouser Electronics, very inexpensive.

Thank You so much for posting. This is what our forum needs to have , is friends like you on here posting questions about your Metal Detectors and Charging Circuits.

Also it is possible to find an equivalent circuit that will charge the battery and fit in the Minelab Housing.

Keep us Posted.

Best Regards...............Eugene

The ic in the photo just looks like its been resoldered (badly). Double check there are no shorts etc and remove all that excess flux. Its a small micro that monitors the thermistor, as well as voltage and charge current. Unfortunately not readily available if faulty but, having repaired quite a few of these batteries, I've never had one of those ic's go faulty.
Firstly you need to check the voltage across each cell before you put on charge. They should all be similar.
Next check the voltages while on charge. It should be greater than the original charge voltage and each cell should be similar. If not the same then a cell may be faulty.
Also are the aH ratings of the new cells the same as the old ones? If different this may cause a different charge rate which the micro ic may detect as a fault. If this is the case there are ways to trick the micro into thinking its ok. The ic monitors the current by comparing voltage drop across a resistor. These voltages are fed to the ic via a voltage divider. By changing the resistors in that divider you can get the ic to work correctly with the new cells. Unfortunately the values will have to be worked out on the fly. There is no easy way around it.

Sorry I cant be of more help but without having it on the bench, its hard to see whats going on.

That smd is an analog switch for the audio circuitry. It has nothing to do with the charge circuit. All the circuitry in that photo is just for the audio. It can be completely destroyed and the charge circuit will still work. I have repaired over 50 of these audio circuits as its the most common fault the battery units have. Not once has it affected the charge circuit.

Just for reference the parts number is : TS5A3159DBVT.

I also sell the complete audio repair kit here:
