Hi all,

I use my whites GMT 80% of my time in the field.  When I ask about compatible coils to use, the answer is always the same.  You can use the stock coil or the Sierra Gold Max only.  I have both.  The stock is great but way to small for my needs.  I have used the Sierra but I do not like the weight or the way it operates. I just do not like it after many hours and days in the field.  Would like a lighter, larger coil.

I wish I had the electronic savvy to build my own but I do not.  Anyone have any ideas of which other coils match my GMT?   Detecting

Thanks!                   Ironman

Eugene,

26 minutes after I post my question I get an answer from you! Wow!!!  Thanks, you are the man! I have asked countless people and sent many e mails looking for an answer and never found it!  I have never seen the chart.

This is truly a great forum with many knowledgeable members and great posts!  I am glad I joined awhile back.

Thanks again Eugene, the 8 x 14 is exactly what I have been looking for.   Good detecting to all!

Ironman

Hi Eugene,   after taking a closer look at the chart and pulling it up.  It turns out to be two outta the three I am currently using.  The 8x 14 Goldmax, White's part # 801-3204 is the Sierra gold max I was speaking of not caring for.  Are there any other brands that are compatible on the White's GMT besides these three choices White's put out?  Ones that match the 50kHz? Undecided

Thanks again             Ironman

Hello Ironman . The exact frequency is 48 khz and you do not have too many other options . The GMT is a great machine , I know Minelab has 2 or 3  companies that make "optional search-coils" like Sun-Ray and Coiltek . Whites just has the Jimmy Sierra line . You must be looking for something that gives you much better depth . Making a Large home-made DD coil might be an option for you to consider ?
Best Regards........Eugene

Thanks Eugene.  How hard and detailed would it be to build a coil for someone who does not have any experience with electronics.  Does it require special testers and tools? I would be interested in making my own if possible.           Ironman
