ok what do yo think about that one.. 48" one.  Detecting

It's  a great coil, covers a lot of ground, but no good for small targets. I would use that for relic hunting or meteorites.

A bad day at gold prospecting or metal detecting is better than a good day at work.

A note here. Always select the right coil for the job at hand. You wouldn't use a chain saw to make a coocoo clock. (Well, maybe someone would just to see if they could)

Yes looks pretty light, but not designed for coin hunting or prospecting.

Tesoro now sells a 3 x 18 DD coil for their detectors. It's narrow to get into tight places and long to cover a lot of ground. Remember on overlapped induction balanced coils, that only the overlapped area is doing the detection. A wider coil only gives a slight change in depth. You won't usually find coins or small to medium nuggets buried more than this. Much deeper than this you are not detecting you are mining. You will need a pick and shovel.

Just like in mating, bigger doesn't mean better. Quality of the equipment and operator experience hold the most weight.

They are the same as normal coils but the housing is made of carbon fiber, this makes the coils very light also as carbon fiber is a conductive material they probably do not have any shielding inside the coil using the housing for the shield. I've been wanting to make one for a long time now but finances have not allowed yet. Another thing is that they say that the litz wire is what gives these coils such a good performance but I still would like to see the proof of that.

A coil that size would have maybe four or five wire loops.   Good luck with finding any thing under the  beer can size.
