How can I construct a large coil (5'x5') using PVC, such as I have seen on Meteorite Men?

A coil that size cannot be matched for efficiency to a hand held machine. You need to design your detector around your coil. Start with a coil and then work towards the electronics step by step.

The best I have seen in a large coil adaptation is 38% efficiency. And even then, the coil had lots and lots of false readings.

First off you can.

Second a Coil that size would only find a Sky Rock of 1Ft or Larger.

Emanated Field is so Weak it just has limits.

As long as the Impedance and DC Resistance is the Same it should work.

If your Talking PI detector, Constuction is a Major Factor.

Homefire, it CANNOT be done like on that show. The machines they use are not off the shelf electronics from retail machines. They have been heavily modified. Seriously.

It's no simple matter. Everyone here on this forum who has described their work in progress has failed in the end. That's the truth of the matter. If I were going to do that, I'd start with the coil, then design the receiver electronics and finally the transmitter electronics. After that, the signal treatment circuits and audio and indicator circuitry.

GD, I agree I've never seen a Successful Large Coil (Blanket Type).

There just a Hype on some Ads and TV shows.

In Real Life it does not happen.

Your the Engineer, I'm just a Technician.

That's entirely different. Since the bumblebee does, indeed, fly, the math was in question not the flight. Look it up on Snopes. That particular bit of aerodynamic folklore has long been proven to be wrong.
