Go Up Go Down

I have always battled to take good photo's of my finds due to shadows etc. Today I built a ring for my camera that helps to get rid of shadows. I used a led strip that you stick to your cars headlamps, this strip works on 12 volts.... I stuck the strip onto a old CD that I had cut the middle out bigger. Added a switch and a 9 volt battery. I want to put a 12 volt battery to make the lights brighter.... I stuck a lid from a plastic container to the back of the disc so that it clips onto my camera. The CD also helps to reflect the light onto the subject. I am pretty impressed with the results, although 12 volts will be better.

Anyway, below are photo's of the ring and of some finds.... Hope you enjoy the project.

WoW!   Cool Stuff.

Your on to something here for sure.

LED's are forward Emission Light Sources.

They do not emmet light back at all.

I don't think the CD disc is doing much more then holding stuff together.

Homie, you are very right because I looked at the light on my webcam and all I saw was the LED's and no reflecting light, but it still does a great job  Great I am very pleased with it and think that with 12 volts it will be even better  Clapp

The problem I always faced, was that I would have strong light and all would look pretty good, then when I bought the camera near to take the photo, all sorts of shadows would enter the field of view... Now with this ring of lights, it removes the shadows  Great

Try a Duracel MN21 battery. There are even companies who sell rechargeable MN21 batteries.

Hi GD,

Here are the results of the 12 volt battery. The battery is now fitting nicely on the back of the disc, is brighter and lighter  :Smiley photographed the coin, no shadow  Idea
