Maybe a neck strap for an instrument like a sax might work.

Detatchable shoulder strap from duffle bag should work for you with little modification.  Maybe the shoulder strap and a couple of zip wire ties.

OK guys/gals, Dr.dtector....here is the plan for the detector harness......  First of all remember I am trying to do this for free, with stuff laying around the house.  I do know there are products for sale>>>ez harness, swingy thingy.  I was able to get a little help with from someone on a minelab forum with this idea and have modified his plans to fit what I have.

1. A luggage strap removed from a travel bag that was never used.  This goes around the neck like a tie.

2. Two bungee cords connected to the luggage strap and looped around the handle grip of detector.

It is that simple...I will be working on it this week and will try to post a picture...if I can....

with #2 I might also use a plastic 3/4" plastic pipe standoff connected to shaft of detector and that would hold the bungee cords.

Drdtector....it might come out a little rough at first but lets see when I am done!  I have it put together but would like to work on it a little more before I post a picture, seems like it will work but need snow to melt to take out and test.  Outback...you may be the first one making your own after I post a picture!

Drdtector the first thing I notice...remember this is with inside testing though,  is a solution to the problem you mentioned.  With the strap moving some of the weight from your fingers/hands/arms to your back/shoulders.  It seems easier to swing and also you don't need to have a death grip on handle!  Now looking for the best way to make the bungee cord adjustable.
