I know that this very well may vary from company to company, and even brand to brand.  I'm sending in my detector to have it checked and possibly diagnosed and repaired.  I'm having my Garrett GTP 1350 sent to Garrets headquarters in Garland, Texas.  I'm just wondering if someone could give me a possible estimate as I only have so much money and would like to know my limits.  Thanks for any info put down.

Hello , Metal_Inspector. A very good question and topic . It is always nice if a detector is still in warranty when it breaks . But they always have problems a year or two after the warranty runs out , also depending on how much you use it . Some charge a flat fee plus parts , some go by an hourly fee . Sending to the factory is better than sending to an authorized service center because you may need to wait for parts and it will take longer. If your Garrett needs parts it will cost a little more than if it is just a programming issue . I try to repair everything myself as I have spent many years as a bench tech with consumer electronics . Ask them to give you a written estimate and also tell them what your spending limit is. It should be pretty reasonable unless the whole circuit board fried or was submerged in salt water. .........Regards......Eugene52

Thanks Eugene52.  I have been to the Garrett website and they said that they would give you repair cost estimates prior to beginning repair to the machine, calling you by your home phone.  I figured and hoped that it would be all around 50 to 60 dollar spending here, seeing that my machine has some problems and is very well affecting its utmost performance.  Thanks for answering and I'll let you know what goes on with this ordeal.

Your going to have to pay the postage to and from. Remember that and good luck.  Or maybe you can find a bargin on e-bay.
