Garrett AT Pro

Go Up Go Down

Am new to MD and recently purchased a Garrett AT Pro.  Along with the unit there came added accessories of which one was some Audio 200 headphones.  These had a 1/4" jack and, of course, would not fit the jack on the unit itself.  I have read somewhere where you can just get a female jack, cut off a end of the headphones that do fit and put that female jack on instead.  Is the Audio 200 headphones that much better than the standard ones to go through all this?  If so, does this mod work ok?  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Radio Shack has adapters. Do NOT cut your headphone cord or try to replace the jack on the headphones. You're asking for a disaster if you do.

Also, if you get a "female jack," let the world know. A female connector is a female socket and the male is the jack. An adapter costs very little. You want a 1/4 stereo to 1/8 mono adapter from Radio Shack. That way you can use any headphones with your detector should you decide you want a different set. Bring your machine and headphones with you if you aren't sure what you need.

Here is one on eBay if you are not in a hurry:
