Go Up Go Down

The mail man came about 5 minutes ago.. And guess what?! The TGSL package came in the mail! Yes, I'm excited like a child and went to open the mail before the mailman even had a chance to leave the block.

I will be posting images and descriptions of everything I do. And I will also be posting issues I run into and hopefully answer, and get answers, to all issues that arise from my first build. Now you might be thinking "WHAT?! Your first build? Why the advanced project?" Well I have very steady hands, lead free solder(as well as the typical solder that melts at a lower temp.. which is best?) and a soldering gun and pencil, electronics experience, and a mind that must learn everything possible. I also have a known habit of biting off more than I can chew.. but we'll see now won't we?  Grin

Haven't even opened the package yet.. Stay tuned.

Here is the parts. I am a bit confused. Where's the toggle switch? No worries I have some mini on/on/on toggle switches from other projects. Unless the L in TGSL really does mean Light and there is no switch spot on the board.
Ahh, I love the smell of new electronics.

uh oh. Already an issue. The TGSL Complete schematics I downloaded aren't the same as this board here. help?

Posted on: August 31, 2011, 08:31:59 AM
I have the TGSL-EDU schematics and parts reference. Which is half useless as the part numbers do no correlate with each other. example IGSL-TGSL board I received has U11, U2, etc and the EDU parts ref has U101A/U101B, U104, etc.

Would greatly appreciate the right schematic link, or advice on what I should do. If I'm one of the first persons to build the this newer TGSL kit from Silverdog then I guess I'll be trail blazing for others. I will attempt to make everything as organized as possible, cite everything from any other source(and link to threads within this forum, I won't be inconsiderate and tell you to "Go and search for it yourself.."), and organize everything as possible. Because otherwise i understand the frustration from trying to follow a poorly laid out instruction/build.

Thanks y'all for any help. Smiley

Your not the first.   Go to Geotech and there is a pile of stuff going on.

Yep, It's a cool detector.

I went and I saw, and what I saw was lacking the parts reference for what the heck U11 is. I understand schematics just fine. But what IC does U11 correlate with? I have HCF4066BE, 68FVJEKE4/CD4024BE, LM339N, LF347F(x2), LM339N. the smaller ICs are LM358P, LM833P, and LF351N. the small pcb IC slots are U1, U8 and U12. The 6 large ones are U2, U4, U5, U6, U11. there is no U3/7/9 on the board. there are 9 ICs total. I guess i need to pour over literally 100s of pages in the geo forum. man that's a lot of posts..

Thanks for any assistance.

That's a bummer vision. I don't drink coffee so my hands are never shaky.. Unless I'm really hungry or I'm hungry and i just smoked a cigarette. Haha. Ok, they get shaky.

Ok, so I think I figured all of the IC placement by using

as a reference. Both posts are on the same page. The photo quality wasn't much help but the schematic was. So I'm uploading my own photo of the ICs with extremely better detail.

If i'm wrong in the orientation or placement of the ICs please tell me!

Denzin!   Can you post a photo of the Circuit board?

The parts are off.

I'm thinking you have the wrong kit there. Shocked

Yeah homefire, here it is w/o the ICs in place. Not doing any soldering yet. haha.

According to the cleared board image and the image from the silverdog website. these are the same boards. just wish someone would've made a parts reference for this board as well, like Eugene uploaded the TGSL Final 3.0. but that's for the EDU board. Not the IGSL-TGSL board.

You need to contact Silverdog

The 4066 is part of a PI detector.

I think you may have gotten the wrong parts bag.
