i needed a nylon nut, either wing or standard for the nylon bolt holding the coil onto the shaft of my whites detector.  I knew I had seen the nut before in another more common usage, but couldn't remember, so i asked the wood man, he said: TOILET BOWL - HOLDS THE SEAT ON.  it worked and the part was among extras in the shop...b

You can find them at most hardware stores in the nutts and bolts section.    Worst come to worst use the ones for a toilet seat.

I order some nuts and bolts over a month ago from eBay from a guy in UK. (10 Nylon Screw Sets M6 Wing Nut, Washer & Bolt 50mm)
I didn't  need them but i thought would be good to have spares just in case.
Still waiting for them to arrive.
I should have gone down to the hardware store Angry

plumbing shop dumpsters are many times full of good things for salvage, and because all their customers dump there too they usually do not mind salvage, and even encourage it....b

They're also used to hold wings on model airplanes so a well stocked hobby shop will have them, too.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

You can also get all the different sizes of nylon bolts, washers, nuts and wing nuts at home depot in the nut/bolt section.
They are usually in the labeled metal drawers and are only a few cents each, that's where I get them, its quicker and cheaper to
get them there then to order them online and wait.. Cool
