Hi all- I have these two old garretts..one (D-2 wide scan) I'm just saving for parts but the other I'd like to get working. It is a VLF/discrimination coin hunter. the only thing it will do is show battery condition..nothing else- no noise or no needle movement (except when check battery cond.) I took it apart and cannot see any melting or broken electronics?..any ideas? Is it even worth messing with? The other 2-D wide scan just hums and burys needle.  Any ideas or direction on this appreciated. Gene

Is this the Green Box 15KHz machine?

ADS?

Pre ADS?

Photo would be cool.

thanks homefire..It is the green box. I think it is before the ADS. It only has VLF/discrimination on it just under the Garrett Electronics letters. (other side has decal says 'coin hunter' deep seeker) on control side it has large red volume dial, large black tuning dial, then three small black dials- one is 'ground zero control' with increase or decrease arrows. another small black dial is 'vlf/disc' selector and other small black dial is 'disc. increase' dial.  I haven't mastered the pic thing so by all rights I shouldn't even try to fix this..but in the hole $150 for the two detectors.  Gene

Those old 15KHz machines did some things the new machine could not.

I would try to get it going. Cool
