It was meat at Cool2010 but you posted at the same time as me. My argument is that the oscillator pin one is at pin eight (the square pad is pin one) you flipped the component, this is OK if you are going to have a double sided board with through hole solder, not on a single sided board. Your board is confusing.

The reason there is confusion lies in difference in conventions in different  parts of the world. I think what I  should do is make a black and white copy without the component line overlay. This is what seems confusing to everyone. The last layout is correct. I printed it out on paper (after appropriate resizing), poked holes through the pad holes, mounted the clock oscillator and PIC to the opposite side and the orientation dot on the components lined up with pin 1 (square pad). So I  feel that it is right. What am I missing here? I certainly didn't start out to confuse anyone and I am truly sorry it has gone on this long. What do you suggest?  I am almost done with my parts gathering except for the ferrite rod. As I mentioned in my post I plan to make a long board version pcb minus the LEDs, plus a vibrating motor instead of  buzzer. I feel if the thing doesn't work it will most likely be in the software since no one has shown a completed version showing the software works. These are modifications for me and I  am not asking anyone to follow suit. When I finish, I  will show everything I did, including corrections, tests, parts used, substitute parts if available, etc. Plus, and this I  feel is the most important thing,  is a big thank you to you for working with me on this, and for putting up with me. It is much appreciated.

Ah, yes the last scheme is correct. Please check picture orientation of bc547 seems to be mirrored.

Ah, yes the last scheme is correct. Please check picture orientation of bc547 seems to be mirrored.

There is only 1 bc547 on top middle of pcb. It drives the buzzer. To me , mirrored means reverse imaged. Emitter goes to ground, base goes to PIC (thru 10k), collector to to buzzer (thru 51 ohm resistor) bc547 and bc557 have same pinouts. Looking from bottom of transistorsith pins facing you and flat facing up and read from left to right, it is e-b-c. If I  am wrong, please let me know be cause I don't have any bc transistors so I have to use subs.
Now on the other hand if you meant there are 2 bc557's then there are supposed to be, and they are cross connected in flip flop fashion to create an oscillator.

Dusty Carl.

I'm sorry I didn't reply directly to this statement because I wanted to take some time to figure it out. Now I think I  see what confused you, and it goes back to conventions. When I  look at the IC pads, there is a dot in the center, and to me that means thru hole components. Is it possible because the rest of the components are SMT, that you thought the IC's were too? Just guessing. At present, I am drawing up a black and white foil side view without component outlines. Just component numbering. Going to the mountains in 3 hours so will have to get back at you later
Hope the rest of the day goes better for you buddy.

Look at this, one picture tells moore than thousand words: In fact all bc transistors are mirrored.

Still can not figure out what you mean by mirrored. There are current mirrors of which I  understand , but these are not hooked up that way. You just might have to use a thousand words to explain it to me, because the datasheet  sure doesn't. Can anyone else help here?

Just had a wild idea. Do you mean "matched characteristics". Best I can come up with at this point.
