Grin   Grin I was wondering if I should mention "Don't measure flyback" I'm going to do a mod to my scope probe adapter using a virtual ground instead of bat negative, I also want to be able to run it off the usb. Could be a fun rainy day project.

Regards

i have seen a special probe schematic, that uses a 240v power transformer in a circuit to drop the voltages to sound card levels, if calibrated its supposed to work well, though i have not built one if you do a search its easily found, if not pm me and i will dig it out.

Thanks I will have a look, it could be quite useful to have one of them on the bench. Have you ever found or heard of a pc scope for tablets ?

yes there is  one designed to use smartphones, so it should work on android tablets too, any of the linux compatable pc scopes should work with a usb adaptor for linux tablets.
windows tablets should work straight of the bat, both usb or soundcard.
the transformer probe can be as simple as a 1.8 or 2v 240 volt wall wart, take it apart and remove the diodes, probe goes to the 240v wire, it simply steps it down to manageable levels(its not quite that simple but you get the idea), once you tell the scope its 240v ac going in to calibrate the scope, your laughing, ac voltages put in the probe are knocked down to soundcard levels, the calibration is key, and it works.

Why not just use two diodes back to back and use the Voltage drop on the forward side. .6 volts?

Hi bernte_one

I went to your web site and I saw that you also build the surf PI, could you give me the coil specs that you used?
