Go Up Go Down

Hi Guys  I have a vintage Questar (Savo Scotland) (one button) metal detector that I would like to bring back to life. The circuit board inside is missing a transistor and some of the wiring came loose from the board. What are my chances in finding a diagram indicating part needed and wiring connections. This is a very basic detector and if any electronic boffin or owner of one of these can advise me how to go about in reviving this MD
I would appreciate  the info very much.

welcome to the forum
i cant say that i know the detector.
it may be known with a different name in other parts of the world.
it will be a good idea if you post  photos including the pcb board (both sides),and the coil.
someone will know about it
as a new member you need to have 25 posts (i think)before you are able to post pics.

I have acquired one of these too (I live about an hour from where the factory was - can hardly believe it was apparently still manufacturing until last year!)  I could probably get pictures of the circuit board for you if necessary.

I know nothing about detecting but would like to give it a go - does anyone know if this detector is worth bothering with or whether I should just buy something modern?

Yes, that's the one.  Not certain of the age, but pretty sure it's from the 80s at least.  Is it likely to locate anything other than old tins?

Hi thank you for your reply. I tried to take a photo of board and it does not appear clear to see the problem I am trying to redraw the pcb with coral draw and I will put it out there to see if somebody can recognise the problem and missing part and connections.
Thanks
Gert
