"His best bet to increase power is to simply align it and keep checking the alignment regularly for drift. Once the components wear in a little, that drift will diminish."

GD,since English is not my native language I have some problems in translating and understanding your statement.
"align it" - what to align with what?
"drift" - I don't understand meaning?
"wear" - I wear shoes.I cant connect in my mind - wear and components.

BR

P.S. Can you help me how to insert quote? I tried with insert qoute button but name after quote is "author" not someone name.

Sorry GD, I had to Spill the Beans.

"align it" - what to align with what?

Setting Timing as Required.

Setting Sample Delay as Required.

Setting Off Set Voltages as Required.

"drift" - I don't understand meaning?

Due to Temperature Changes, Component Break In Things can change like Timing can Drift.    Voltages can Drift from Optimal.

"wear" - I wear shoes.I cant connect wear and components.

Yes Components change Values in time.

Capacitors are the Main Culprit.

Diodes, Transistors and other Semi Conductors can change after a few Heat Ups.

They Call it Burn In.

Thank you homefire.I understand now.

More questions. :Smiley
I red about Hammerhead PIMD by Carl Moreland and Fast Coil by Joseph J.Rogowski.As I understand PIM2 is PI detector as Hammerhead is. In Fast Coil manual Joseph J.Rogowski says that shielding coil is needed for delays below 30uS. He also said that purpose of shield is to  "eliminates the coil responding to the ground at low delays when the coil is lowered to the ground and It protects the coil from picking up electrical noise."

I saw a picture ( att ) that shows coil made from UTP cable for PIM2.I can't see shield of coil in picture. Why?Is there any?

Same picture shows that cable used to connect coil and MD is some kind two wires cable with shield.BBsailor is mentioning coax cable for that purpose. Which one is better to use for PIM2?

Is it matter the way of connecting wires in UTP cable - there are 4 pairs of wires - should I connect pairs first and then different colours or ...it does not matter?

Can I use coil described in Fast Coil with PIM2?

Try that after you build it as described in the project. Get it working before you try other options.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
