Best wishes,

Christian

Yes Christian I built this ROV myself . It took some thinking though but I got it done at last . It will go to a depth of 30 meters ( 100 Ft . ) . Anything deeper than that I don't need because diving at that depth is difficult enough with regular equipment . As I mentioned before ( to the guys that have seen these pictures before ) the coupling between the prop and the motor  ( Mercedez Benz heater motors  12 V )  is done by a Magnetic coupling sothat no water will ever get into the motor compartment  . I can go a lot deeper with this ROV but as I said it is not necessary .   Cornelius

Hello Cornelius,

you did a very nice job! Congratulations! I am presently using a ROV that goes down to 300 m but am safing on buying a larger rig for deepwater operation.

Did you fully design this righ yourself? Hwo did you design its trusters?

Best wishes,

Christian

Christian . While in the USA I bought three table fans from Wal-Mart . I used all the parts out of this fan in my ROV .  First of all I used the shaft that held the fan blade . The fan blade was shaped down by me because otherwise the friction under water would be too high and the motors could not pick-up speed .  The shroud that was enclosing the prop I used in my design also . With PVC piping and some flat PVC I constructed a unit that would slip onto the motor . etc etc . It is too hard to explain every thing but believe me it is a well thought about and solid unit . The electrical controlls are of my own design also and are kept as simple as possible  because of the moist erea the ROV will be working in . In the picture you can see what the controlls look like . I should make a technical drawing of it all but I am too lazy to do that  Grin  Cornelius

Hello Cornelius,

that is a very interesting design indeed! How much was the total cost involved?

Thank you,

Christian

The cost in materials was about  $ 250.-  ( not including the camera )  The rest was a labour of love !   Wink   Cornelius

Hello Cornelius,
I have been looking at some DIY ROV projects, and I found one yesterday,
that is called BOB, pretty simple to build. But I must say your ROV is really cool!!!, the BOB will go to 30ft which I dont think I will need to go any deeper. But I must say I would love to build one like yours! As always Best Wishes ,,,,Rob
