Eugene you sent me the component layout of the Tesoro Golden Sabre .  I knew there was something wrong with the unit .  I got what was wrong .  Tr 2N2907 was substituted by me with a BC 640 .  Nothing wrong there , but in haste I hooked up the Tr 640 wrongly .  Tr 2N2907 has a following order og EBC while the Tr BC640 has the following order as BCE .  How stupid can a guy get !  Built many detectors and than make such a mistake !  Well it is all taken care of now and the unit works perfectly like it should . Thanks again for e-mailing me the component layout .   Cornelius

I can share the complete project but I think it better that Eugene  , our  ,, electronics  and schematics  ,, man will answer your request . If he cannot do it  I will answer your request . Be aware though that the Golden Sabre is one of the better units of Tesoro and not easy to build . Cornelius

Hello Everyone . Great work Cornelius on your Golden Sabre Troubleshooting . My goal on this forum , when I get more time we will go step-by step on a metal detector project from the beginning , and post daily progress and also build a search coil and then do some serious field testing . Thunting.com is a fairly new forum and just in the last few months , we have made great progress on starting new topics , ideas and also have added some excellent technical information . With everyones help , It will only get better !!!.....Regards.........Eugene

Aword of caution . I notice that there are a lot of our members asking for schematics of metal detectors . Remember one thing though before you start buyig all kind of parts  , if you never have been working with electronic schematics  and are not able to handle a soldering iron the way it should be done , don't start on a project like the one you have in mind . If you still want to do it  start with a very simple circuit and gradually build up your knowledge . Even I , after many years of building detectors of all kind , am making mistakes . Sometimes you are in a hurry and you know better but it happens without you knowing . To find back a mistake is sometimes difficult . Take my advise and start with the simple ones and get the hang of it .  Another question I have is the following : Do you know how to make a PCB from a scetch on a piece of paper ? Do you know how to transfer a print onto a photo sensitive copper plate ? Do you know how to develop and etch that plate ?  Think before you undertake something that sounds so easy but has more to it than just the willingness to build a detector .   Cornelius

You are ready then to tackel the job . Ask Eugene if he can send you the schematic of the Golden Sabre . It is a good detector but the most important part is the coil .   Regards  Cornelius   ( ps . My remarks were meant in general )
