Hi haikel774
We can not protect ua556 and the  damage occurs from damage of irf740,,,  can be protected to put the correct values for the components of ua556 that control irf740  ---may be in another design can be put another circuit  insulation.(driver or buffer).

best time
j.

For those interested in the DP, I picked this up from another MD forum  Smiley

DP2 1x1m search coil

Today I made a 1x1m search coil.

wire: 0,7mm
winding: 14
920 uH; 3,2 ohm

Irf 740 is cold after long time.
Works perfectly.
30x30cm metal plate about 190-200cm detected

The duty cycle in that detector (timing) is incorrect for this configuration. Poor performance can be expected. Please, folks, do not assume that ANY detector success is a good outcome. The timing for this unit as it was designed when matched to that coil is absolutely abysmal. In theory, with perfect timing, you should be able to detect a target the size of a cannonball at 20 or more feet, not at 1.5 yards. The down side is that you cannot possibly pinpoint with that kind of sensitivity. Also, to get that kind of depth and distance, your coil must move very, very slowly.

An 18 inch plate at 1.5 yards? That's terrible, not good. I'd be ashamed of that kind of result with a 1x1 meter coil.

* I have the right voltage value E (5.4 V) at all the check points expect pin 4 of LM555 i got (-2.04 V).

* continued sound from speaker with or whitout metal near coil.
* D5 (TL062) become quickly very hot.

Hi apocalypto

I'm not to sure that I understand what you are tying to tell us. You say D5 that would be a diode then you say that the TL062 is getting hot but that is an Op-amp so why have you got the Op-amp in brackets next to D5? Any how if your Op-amp is getting hot then you must have a short or the wrong voltage to the amp.

All the best Xavier
