Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Unfortunately, most places that I hunt are not accessable in a wheelchair or scooter. I'm usually treking in deep woods or climbing mountains or at least a hunt involving a long hike. .. But I'm trying.. To rebuild...

I'm there with you!  Been in a wheelchair now for over 5 years!

I have a power wheelchair, (They hate for me to call it an "electric chair" LOL)  that I can use to metal detect on fairly leval ground.  However, I have al the Gold Gettin' equipment a person can want, except for a dredge.  Find someone and team up with them.  That's what I am looking to do.

In the mean time, I run paydirt from my house.  Don't let the "chair" stop you from finding gold!

Karl and Charlotte, I sometimes just set down and stay there till I can stand back up. I dont expect much help from VA, I have asked now for 20 years. In the park no one looks twice. I was wondering why there was no cup holder or rack for a detector on that tracked chair.....lol.

yeah think i would have to get one fabricated for it !!  Grin  Grin But as long as i can drive the gator , and hold the MD with the other arm , I will keep doing it that way, the best way of course is to have someone else drive while i sit on the tail gate, but dont always have a Driver  Sad .
and now that i got the scooter , i need to try it out, but it wont hold all the stuff the gator does  Grin  Grin

Hi Richard,
Hope you are doing well. I always wondered what had become of you. I read in another post about the passing of your wife and son, very sorry to hear that.

I am Paul Vykukal, and I use to visit you in your shop in Manvel years ago around 1978-80?, not sure but some where around there. I was running road service for a trucking company and passed by your shop on the way to some of our jobs in Sugarland. I stopped by every chance i could to listen to you advise and stories.

You were just working on the prototype of the Phantom, once in production I purchased one from you. Great machine may I add. You were also working on your Costa Rica adventure.

I have to say, you really sparked my treasure hunting interest more than ever while during our visits.

Is Tom Townsend still around? Are you and Tom doing any writing?

How long did The Gulf Coast Preservation Society last?

I see you are living in East TX? I am currently in Spartanburg, South Carolina, moved in 89 with job. One of the biggest mistakes that I have made, but kids and grandchild here, so here for the long run.

Well, hope to hear from you, and wish you all the best!! God bless.....

Paul
