I was sitting and thinking last weekend about all the different "stuff" I have found over the years. A lot of it has just been in various boxes by category. The coins are kept in a nice "auction find" safe from an old jewlery store. I decided to get some of it out and reminisce a bit. I am sure many of you have even far more than this, but it was fun to dig it out (again) and go through it.

I have decided to make some display cases this winter and hang it in my "man room". lol

There are Matchbox toys, Tootsie toys, old pocket watch parts, pocket knives, lots of crotal bells, toy gun parts, a real gun, axe heads, tons of wheaties, some indians, some mercs, some silver quarters, some silver halves, some silver dollars, etc.

I will show a close-up of my oldest coin to date.......an 1823 Capped bust half.

It was a lot of fun to go back through it all. It is funny how you can remember "finding that" along the old fence line behind "that old house site". lol

Wow, that is a real collection now.  I really adore that Capped Bust Half, it is 11 years older than mine!! Though, you found yours and I bought mine. Grin

I just put most of my finds in old mason jars.  By category, like jewelery, coins, relics, misc.

That is a lot of history that you have laid out on the table. (and I might add...a lot of digging for your poor back and knees)

If history could only talk to you, I am sure that you would hear so many stories of happiness and sadness. Each dropped or forgotten item holds its own little story. It could be a tale of a love won or a love lost. A story of a day starting off great and then with the loss of the item, the day turning into panic and sadness.

Isn't that what is so wonderful about this hobby!

With each new discovery, (old or new) an adventure comes to life.

Yep, that's what so cool about this hobby. It is REALLY great when we find a nice old coin, but even the little things. I wonder who lost it, what they were doing......it is cool to bring things out of darkness after 100 years.
