my question is;
has anyone tried to use the clavicles of solomon as a tool for navigation to pinpoint locations?
particularly the egyptians, who from what i have heard used it when at sea to also find places inland
also was there a tool they used with the above as a guide , if so what is it called?
and finally can this be linked with the dendedra zodiac which mapped the main constellations?

Wouldn't be the first time that directions were hidden in a text (especially one that supposedly deals with magic).  Might be worth kicking around.   If anyone looking for more info

  (and of course, there are online translations).   So, could it be a key to some of Solomon's lost mines or just a figment of someone's imagination?

I read a little about it years ago while researching King Solomon's lost mines but blow it off because of the magic connection. OK time to look at it a little differently

try typing in... the clavicles of solomon in a search... a site will come up with the actual seals etc and the star side of things, it gives an english translation aswell. lesser key is not much info for what am on about.

and finally given that back then we assume that all things were more or less linked, supestition,the gods,magic,faith ,then surely if they travelled then they would put there faith in the magical stars and planets to guide them.either that or my thinking is to far out there.plus some sort of standard guide for sailors must of been in use, via word of mouth or by some great icon ie solomon or other.....just a thought.was freemasonary not founded on his ideas as well?

That's part of the legend anyway.  Separating the facts from the fables in legends is the challenge.  In all likelihood, the Clavicle of Solomon does not go back past the middle ages.....BUT that doesn't mean there isn't a kernel of an older tradition behind.   And "hiding in plain sight" has always been a speciality of the magical arts.
