Oak leaves

(1/1)

johnnn:
Hi All,
I put two displays into local libraries of 1812 stuff I have enoght to make interesting displays and the libraries are pleased to show stuff for a while.
I went to collect my items from one location and the librarian thanked me and told me it generated quite a lot of interest, she also told the following story, she said she came in to the library in the morning and she saw a pile of OAK LEAVES under one of the display cabinets, the one with native items in it a "tomohawk" and some other copper item she does not know how they were bought into the building and said they were not there when she locked up the night before.
The question is, is there some signifcance with oak leaves and natives???.....HH....johnnn.........she didn't take any pics.

 Sounds like a gift of respect to me.

 'That every man might keep his own possessions,
    Our fathers used, in reverent processions,
    With zealous prayers, and with praiseful cheer,
    To walk their parish limits once a year;
    And well-known marks (which sacrilegious hands
    Now cut or break) so bordered out their lands,
    That every one distinctly knew his own,
    And brawlers now rife were then unknown.'
