The Lost City of Z

(1/1)

The Lost City of Z
In 1925, the gentleman explorer Colonel Percy Fawcett entered the Amazon rainforest in search of a mythical ancient kingdom: Z. He was never seen again. What happened to him, and to the countless men who followed in his footsteps?

"After nearly two decades of exploring the Amazon, Fawcett had concluded that the worlds largest jungle ? a wilderness area virtually the size of the continental United States ? concealed a fabulous kingdom, which he had named, simply, the City of Z. Since the discovery of the New World, perhaps no place on earth had so ignited the imagination ? or lured men to their death ? as the Amazon. Thousands of conquistadores had died futilely looking for the glittering kingdom of El Dorado, which was said to be so plentiful in gold that its inhabitants ground the metal into powder and blew it through hollow canes upon their naked bodies."

This is an excerpt of a book written about the explorer.

Very interesting. I have saveral books in my library dealing with similar topics. I am very certain that much Inca treasure is still to be found in the Amazonas region. However the jungle is so dense, it is very hard to find ones way there. Not a region I would want to go treasure hunting.

Here is another review of the book. Brad Pitt is going to be in the movie. I read part of the book - too much blah blah - could have picked up and got more interesting, I guess, but I got bored about a third through it - maybe I will see the movie.

- Could be worse, I will not judge, just enjoy a possible treasure movie of the year -who knows.

Would be nice to see all of mankind  lost in the jungle( Romans, Egyptians, Tibetans and maybe a red giant or two)mmmmm might be nice too.

Thanks for the reads [fight]
