Go Up Go Down

In my fathers youth, he had collected a "dishpan" full of points.  The family was living at the Lynn Welc place in Decatur, Co. TN.  My father said that "his mother made him through out a dishpan full of arrowheads", that they were in the way.  I can't find anyone that can tell me where the place is and would seriously like to find this item.  It would be easily found with an MD.  Can anyone help?Huh???

You might try geneology, since you know the name search the census records. It is likely the address will be recorded with names of people in residence.

I have tried this without any results.  My uncle, still living, says he doesn't remember even how to get to the place.  He still lives in Decatur Co.  He was with the family at the time of residence.  My whole family, on both sides, mainly still reside in this county.  Yet, they remember the name of the residence, they can't remember the location.  Thanks for the advice, I really need someone from the area that is familiar with the name.

I couldn't find a Lynn, but I did find a Felbert L living on Shady Hill Road in 1920 census for Decatur Co. He was 52 then. There's a James L, also, aged 60. I'm not sure where he lived - maybe you are familiar with the area enough to make it out. I've attached it. Sue

Welch seems to be a very popular name in Decatur County. Did you happen to search for your own family name just in case there were property or census records of them in that residence? Good luck in your hunt. I am on a similar mission of sorts, trying to find a place that was discovered by a now deceased family member.

Sue,

Thanks for the help on this.  I'm sorry, the image you attached would only show the top 1/2" of the page.  Could not get complete image.  Thanks for your assistance in this.

Danny
Idaho,

Thank you also for your assistance.  Yes, Welch was a common name, the maiden name of my Grandmother.  But she has been deceased for many years now.  Also, all her brothers and sisters.  The only one still around is her son (my uncle), and he says he can't remember where it was.  But, he did remember his mom making the boys throw out those arrowheads in the dishpan.

Thanks for your advice,
Danny

Danny, that's the complete image. Just the name of the road where that Welch gentleman lived - it's from the side of the census. I think it's Bath Springs - just thought it was odd name for a road. Sue

Sue,

Bath Springs is a community/area that is about 10 mi. in circumference.  That is the area that I've been looking in and I appreciate your help.  I do remember that when I was about 10 yrs. old, we went to this area and the old 1956 Ford got stuck in a spring that crossed the road.  I have a visual of the area, but have yet to relocate it.

Thanks again for all your help,
Danny

Sue,

Thanks for your assistance, Bath Springs is the name of a community/area.  It covers an area of about 15 miles in diameter.  I've narrowed it down to that area, but within that area there are probably 100-150 different primary and secondary roads.  Thank you very much for your help.  I guess all that's left to do, is a whole lot of leg work.  I'll keep you posted as to the results.

Thanks again,

Danny
Sue,

Thanks for the link, this is my family website, with all my ancestry.  The pic of the two guys on the porch are my father and his brother.  The brother being the one in uniform.  Two pictures to the left are my Grandparents.  The lady in that picture Edna Butler (Welch) is the one who made them through out the arrow heads.  The school picture between those has my mom, dad, and all dad's brothers and one sister.  This is odd that you should find this.  But all the individuals on this website, that are still around have been contacted.

Thank you so much for your assistance in this, but it seems to always lead in a circle.  I think I'm going to have to just take a ride to the area and start knocking on doors.  The ones that aren't related to me.  LOL

Thanks again,
Danny
