You would have to get out there to believe it. I've camped and prospected the majority of the southwest and pacific northwest areas and I've never ever have been disappointed with the peace and serenity of any those locations
Been there too; couldn't wait to get back west. If you trvel that way email me I'll tell you some nice spots....

Lived in the four corners area for nine years.  There are lots of places to hunt.  However since only about 23% of the land in San Juan County, New Mexico is privately owned, it's good to have a map identifying Bureau of Land Management area, Navajo reservation lands, Jicarilla Apache reservation, Mountain Ute reservation, and Southern Ute reservation.  There are lots of old Native American sites that you will not find on any maps.  Largo Canyon, to the east of Bloomfield, is a beautiful spot with lots of places to check out.
LaPlata Canyon, west of Durango, Colorado is a great area.  There are several old gold mining areas.  But watch where you hunt because there are a few active gold mines there.  It's a pretty easy drive all the way to the peak of the mountain if you have four-wheel drive.  The LaPlata River runs along the road once you leave the black-top.  Remember to dress for the mountains.  Even during the summer, the evenings get pretty cold at higher altitudes, mainly in the mountain canyons.

I'm up in the Northwest part of the State, in San Juan County.  I am new to this hunting stuff, but i really want to learn.  Anybody give me any tips or pointers?  Anyone been here before, know where i should look first?
