Welcome! Sorry to hear they've outlawed detecting in parks - just Louisville or that county or is it statewide? Sue

Did they give a reason for outlawing mding in the parks or do we just assume it's because some folks know how to dig a hole but haven't figured out how to put the dirt back Angry That ruins things for all of us.

Regards and HH,
Ken

They may have blamed it on archeology but the real reason is because holes are an eyesore and can be dangerous if left unfilled. If I'm hunting in a park I always cut away the top layer of grass if possible and save it. You can put the dirt on a bag so that when you get the goodies you can easily fill the hole and place the turf back on top. In a few days it will look like it's never been disturbed. Smiley

Welcome to the site, i would bet it was leaving the digs that werent filled in. This is a major reason MD is banned in many places. The lazy and irresponsble hunter. I treat every dig like it was in my own yard, i even carry a baggie of grass seed in my apron and a towel to put dirt on when i dig not to make a mess, especially in a well groomed park. Check out some old Baseball fields or Race track parking lots, they will produce for you im sure. Happy Huntin....DW
