Hi I am brand new to metal detecting and I was wondering if there are any guys/gals in Washington State (Pierce County) that knows the places to go or are looking for another person to go out with.

If not .... then ... well... I will be going out alone and of course finding treasure!

Thanks for looking. Waveing

Welcome from Connecticut. And good luck! Once you are a full member here (25 posts) you will find a members list available under the Community menu. You can sort by a variety of fields but the initial sorting is by state. Each member's name will have an activity percentage which tells you if they are active or not. Also, bear in mind that we are a sentimental bunch and some of our members have passed on without being removed. That way their posts live on even though they don't.

Washington State's history is not as deep as the east coast. You can find occupation since around 1700 but not major occupation until the 1850s or later. Thus, your search areas must be limited to towns that have had occupation the longest for ancient coins. For new stuff, the sand beaches are always good, playgrounds with sand or bark for cushioning and older parks.

There is also a site for seeking ghost towns. Washington has a fair few.

Be sure to find out ownership of the land before going into a ghost town. The nearby town office can help you with that.

Well since I am new ... my research was probably not the best. I originally bought a Whites d/b coin master (from the 70's) for really cheap and also a Garrett ads ground hog (also 70's) at the same time for about $50. I used them off and on for about 4 days then sold them and bought a Whites M-5 for my son and a MXT Pro for myself. They deal was too good to pass up (at least that's what I thought). Both for $700 including bags and rechargeable battery packs and a extra dd coil.

I would like to ultimately scale up to good gold units that provide great depth and possibly a water unit as well - that's is of course once the detector starts earning it's keep (lol).

Currently Whites M-5 and MXT Pro

p.s. at this point I am not locked into any particular manufacture or brand. No no!

Hello
Welcome to the forum etsexplore.  Welcome
That is some great deals you have made there on detectors this can help make detecting more fun as one learns and experiments with detectors.
This one also plays with Whites detectors being closer to Whites metal detector headquarters in Oregon.   Any brand of detectors can get one started with metal detecting.  Detecting
