Welcome aboard mate!

Well, I must frankly that this is not an easy task ... by this I mean you are looking at an almost antique machine from the 80s. Considering having someone repair it may produce higher cost than the unit is actually worth.

Does it have a headphones jack? If yes have you checked if it will produce audio with headphones connected? The issue might be its speaker which would be a cheap repair.

I'm not sure if this helps but here are shematics for your unit:

really great to hear back so soon,,,, thanks !  the schematic is a big help.. we additionally would like to get the original assembly manual/ operating instruction,,, true that this is a relic, though its performance as an all around tr is hard to beat... yes also true the repair bill may be high but the reward will be just as high with the whole family now having a machine to hunt with,,, this last one would be for the backup and loaner machine..  I really like Heath amateur radio gear for short wave listening also....  glad to meet you Christian and we appreciate the contact and info...  have a great week...usmrs
