The Lone Tree’s Secret

Danie was a wealthy businessman who owned numerous farms and properties. His vast holdings were managed by a team of competent managers and hardworking laborers. One day, Pieter, a likeable but rugged individual, visited Danie in search of potential employment. Pieter was known for his unique ability to divine water on many farms and properties, a skill he used only for friends and neighbors, always avoiding the limelight.
When Pieter arrived at Danie’s farm, he found Danie in a meeting with Gerhardus, a self-proclaimed 'siener' who claimed to possess extraordinary divination skills. Gerhardus was notorious for bragging about his many alleged successes, much to the skepticism of others.
As their business on the farm concluded, Gerhardus prepared to leave. He suddenly turned and interrupted Danie and Pieter, pointing to a lone tree in the distance. With great drama, he professed that he could 'see' an English soldier from the Boer War era moving restlessly about, evidently above a buried treasure trove. Danie, having lost money on countless treasure stories in the past, was not impressed by Gerhardus’s claims.
Pieter, although he could not 'see' the alleged soldier, noticed something peculiar. For a few fleeting seconds, there appeared a bluish-green shimmer around the lone tree before vanishing. This change in the scenery intrigued him.
The story of the lone tree and its supposed treasure was only known to five people: Danie, Gerhardus, Pieter, Pieter’s wife, and the storyteller. And now, it is known to you as well.
Would this shimmer lead to a hidden treasure or was it just another illusion? The mystery of the lone tree's secret remained, waiting to be unraveled.
