I am going to Los Alamos, NM area and Chaco (?) Valley. Any recommendations on where to prospect for gold? Either MD or panning? Sure appreciate any ideas.

Not familiar with that area, my stomping grounds are Hillsboro, P.A. and Black Range.  You may want to take your geiger counter with ya to that area.  LOL!

Welcome from Arizona.... You should find some color in a lot of those creeks around Los Alamos.    As for Chaco, I haven't been there, but I'd be real careful to make sure I knew exactly where I was at all times.....you don't want to be caught digging anywhere in the Chaco Culture National Historical Park or on any of the nearby Indian properties.

The Indian land will get you more trouble then the National Park. Get a new up to date map showing all that and you will be OK
