Hello All-

I've been involved with metal detecting back in New England for some 4 years before seizing the opportunity to move to central Arizona.

As for some, the finding Revolutionary War artifacts from the Colonial times might seem appealing but with nearly every square inch of property owned by SOMEONE as opposed to a Government entity finding places to hunt was diffcult at best. Once someone had an idea that there MIGHT be some objects of value lost on their property, it usually was responded with "no, you may not look on my land."

That's what I like best about the south west where I'm located. Acres and acres of open space, albeit being encroached on by the State of Arizona Land Trust and their highly restrictive rules, but BLM and other private land offers so much in the way of opportunity for anyone wanting to explore the AZ outback. For me, it's literally at my front door.

And historically speaking, one can either become engrossed in early primative, Spanish exploration, Westward expansion or more modern history for variety.

I look forward to learning and sharing my limited experiences with others here in the future.

az-gold

Welcome Azgold
Im a newbie too from BC, I did live in Phoenix for a short time in the 80's. I still communicate with buddy in Mesa. Lots of stories and leads but dangerous out there too. I love the thunder storms there, very powerful ones.
I have already seen a very active communication going on at this forum with a lot of input too, very active at times and open about topics as well.

Good hunting Lad.

Speaking of BLM, I believe that it's OK to metal-detect on BLM, and national forest lands right? You don't have to go asking for permission?
