Hello,

I finally logged into this site after watching for a while.
I am in Austin, Texas and am considering building an XR 71. Any advice on this item would be greatly appreciated. Is there any documentation (manual) for this detector?? Where is the best place to get one from??  Anyway, looking forward for some info. Thanks in advance.

MK

Welcome to the forum
i don't have any experience with the XR-71,but its like with any other machine.
First you need to decide what you want to look for.then you choose the machine that will do the job.
here is an extract from "Geotech" talking about the XR/deltapalse
""The minimum delay in the DP , is around 30 or 35 us . and adjusted with P1 50K and associated components , R7 and C4 .
This is not good for non- ferrous metals, which require less time delay .
However, you can change the time base to work with delays of up to 17 or 18 us , because the design of the front preamplifier stage , does not allow fast responses .
The DP was not designed for small objects and fast driving,
But 17 or 18 us , it's pretty good for coins, but not for the small gold.
The advantage of DP is its high sensitivity , but is slow to respond, is fixed in part, by increasing the frequency of transmission TX .
DP Another advantage is that it is less sensitive to ambient noise , unlike what is commonly said"""
