Iron nails, beer caps,....lol
No seriously, I will have to go for coins and relics here in Belgium.
A lot of iron infested soil and archeological sites are off limits offcourse  Wink
So no digging in Bastogne...neither.
The detector will be lower side frequency  Smiley
As I never owned one, so no experience but what I've read on diffrent forum (not counting the army minedetector BMD-34, ...when I look back...ages ago)  Wink

Yep, Lower freq Detectors are better on depth for your coins.  I only own American made or Home Made detectors.  Really don't know all the offerings you would have to choose from.  We had a Good Friend in Belgium who passed away not so long ago.  He build his own.

Well Keep us posted on what your thinking about.  We have folks from all walks of life here. Our Parent Forum and Host is a German site.

Any Detector is better then NO DETECTOR, Eaa?

Hi again homefire,
German is no problem for me (third spoken language in Belgium, minority in the east, German border) Wink
Selfmade detector...what price are we talking about for equipment and electronics?
Have not fully had the time to search this forum here, but will keep in mind selfmade.
Teknetics EuroTek Prov(with coilprotector, headphone wired and rainprotection box) cost 458$, the XP Adventis 2 (french made and cheaper in France) cost 588$ (rest Europe 705$).
So are the selfmade detectors also for European soil (iron infested) and cheaper then the ones I mentioned?
Thanks from the newbie  Wink

If you posses reasonable electronics skills kits or bare PCB's can be had quite cheap.  The only real challenge is constructing a coil if you choose not to buy one.

Test equipment required could be as little as a Good VOM / DVM for the basic PI detectors.  Access to a Oscilloscope is more then beneficial.

Construction of a VLF detector pretty much mandates a Scope.

This guy produces some most Reputable Kits all well documented on the Geotech Forums.

Any and All of the kits Silver Dog sells can be found in the Projects on Geo Tech.  Most not all have a PDF Build document that can pretty much walk you through it.

Hello nickel_n,
Thanks  Smiley
Did you build your own detector?
Looks like a nice project to start digging, and not that expensive too.
Greetings
Willy
